The date was 26 December 2014 and in the beginning, everything start in calmness as. Just like a normal monsoon faced by people of Kelantan every year. No real disaster comes in mind as the first wave of flood has just reached an end three days before. Suddenly, right at noon, the water rise dramatically and unstoppable. It just rise and keep rising until there came a devastating news saying that about 400 people trapped in level 4 of Sekolah Kebangsaan Manek Urai Lama, Kuala Krai. The highest level and the only level that can be occupied at the time. Families including infant child were fighting with coldness and starving for there are no food supply around them. In matter of hours, the whole state has been flooded and the land road to other state were cut off. Truly a disaster out of consciousness forcing the flood missions the be held immediately. Flood victims are moved to safety all around the state and supplied with food, water, clothing and other needed things. Yet the supply did not reach SK Manek Urai Lama and some other places in the district. Everybody thought the flood victims in the school were facing the worst conditions, yet there came a news saying there are more victims were fighting for their lives in the mountains or at any places they can go to save their lives. The rescue teams were facing a great obstacle to reached all the victims in Manek Urai and some other places in Kuala Krai. Believe it or not, it took several days for supplies to reached them. The flood known as bah kuning was the worst disaster faced by people in Kelantan after the flood named bah merah in 1926/27. It has leave a great scars not only to victims but the whole Malaysia. Everybody felt the wrath of bah kuning. The sadness, the trauma and all the worst feeling everybody could felt. It was all there in the bah kuning tragedy. Several casualties were recorded including children’s, infant and the elders but most of the victims were saved. The survivor however need to face greater task after the flood has subsidized. A great sadness of losing their home and all their belongings. They survived the flood just to return to a ground zero. There was nothing left and they have to do whatever it took to survive. We all felt the sadness of the flood survivors yet them and the only knows the true agony brought by bah kuning. Yet the survivors were still able to give everyone who came to lend a helping hand a smile. Yes a bitter smile of acceptance towards all hardness they have to go through. For they know, all that happens were a test by The Al Mighty and there is no use to keep on grieving while you know that you have to keep on living.
